Manchester City were knocked out of the League Cup last night by their arch rivals, Manchester United. One of the more entertaining moments of the game was given to us by a rogue United fan, who struck Craig Bellamy with a coin. Since Rafael Benitez took over the Liverpool reigns in the summer of 2004, the club have made steady progress in the league. Yes they have won a few significant cup competitions along the way, but the league position has been enhanced year upon year. From battling and ultimately losing out to 4th spot to Everton in his first season, Benitez then consolidated Liverpool in the top four before edging closer and closer to the summit, culminating in a record points total last year which meant narrowly missing out on the ultimate prize to our old foes in Manchester.
